How to Measure and Choose the Right Harness Size

A harness should feel secure, comfortable, and confident against your skin — not too tight, not slipping around. Getting the size right is the single biggest factor in how a harness looks and feels, so before you shop, grab a soft measuring tape and five minutes.

Why Sizing Matters More With Harnesses

Unlike a t-shirt, a harness is worn directly against skin and often layered over other pieces. A harness that's too loose will twist and shift as you move; one that's too tight can dig in and leave marks. Because most of our designs use adjustable straps and buckles, getting your base size right gives you room to fine-tune the fit on the day.

How to Measure Yourself

You'll need a flexible tape measure and, ideally, a friend to help.

  • Underbust / chest: Measure directly under the bust (for chest harnesses) or around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
  • Hips/thigh (for leg or body harnesses): Measure around the fullest part of your hips or thigh.
  • Neck (for collars and some harnesses): Measure around the base of the neck where a collar would sit.

Write your numbers down in centimeters — our size charts on every product page use both cm and inches.

Reading Our Size Chart

Every Harnezz listing includes a size chart with ranges like XXS–XS, S–M, L–XL, and up to 6XL–7XL, alongside the exact centimeter range for each. Compare your measurement to the ranges rather than to your usual clothing size — they don't always match.

Between Sizes? Here's What to Do

Because most of our harnesses adjust at the buckle, sizing up slightly is usually the safer choice if you're between two ranges — you can always tighten a strap, but you can't add length to one that's too short. If you're still unsure, or your measurements fall outside our standard ranges, many of our styles are available as a custom size on request — just reach out before ordering.
